How do I calculate therapy productivity?
Divide your credited billable minutes by your paid worked minutes, then multiply by 100. For example, 360 credited billable minutes during 450 paid work minutes equals 80% productivity.

Calculated clock-out time
Based on 306 credited billable minutes at an 85% target, you have 360 paid work minutes. With a 30-minute unpaid break, a 7:30 AM start becomes 2:00 PM.
Planning estimate only. Record all compensable work and follow your employer, payer, and professional requirements. Productivity targets do not override clinical judgment or patient needs.
The denominator matters
Therapy productivity is commonly calculated by dividing credited billable minutes by paid worked minutes, then multiplying by 100. The important detail is how your employer defines both sides of that equation. Documentation, meetings, paid breaks, group treatment, concurrent treatment, and other duties may be handled differently across settings.
Productivity % = credited billable minutes ÷ paid worked minutes × 100
This calculator uses the values and assumptions you enter. It does not decide which activities your employer or payer treats as billable.
Paid vs. unpaid
An unpaid break normally extends the time between clock-in and clock-out but is removed from paid worked minutes. A paid break remains part of paid time even when it is not billable. That distinction is why adding 30 minutes directly to every productivity calculation can produce the wrong answer.

Common questions
Divide your credited billable minutes by your paid worked minutes, then multiply by 100. For example, 360 credited billable minutes during 450 paid work minutes equals 80% productivity.
An unpaid lunch normally increases the elapsed time between clock-in and clock-out but is excluded from paid worked minutes. A paid lunch or paid break generally remains in the paid-time denominator. Confirm the definition used by your employer.
Enter your clock-in time, credited billable minutes, an 85% target, and total unpaid break time. The calculator divides your credited minutes by 0.85 to determine paid work time, then adds the unpaid break to estimate your clock-out time.
No single percentage is appropriate or universal across every discipline, employer, payer, and care setting. Treat 85% as an entered planning assumption, not a professional standard or recommendation.
That depends on the service, payer, setting, employer policy, and how the documentation is performed. This calculator does not classify activities. Enter the credited billable-minute total recognized under the rules that apply to your work.
Crediting rules vary. Use the concurrent and group therapy credited-minutes calculator to apply the percentages recognized by your facility, then use the resulting credited total in the main productivity calculator.
